An Ode To My Pillow Poetry Lyrics

I've Been Thinking A Lot
About This Word "Home"

It Is As Easy To Say
As Hard As It Is To
Stay In One Just A One
Syllable "Home". . .

I've Been Thinking About
How Other Words
Inadvertently Give You
More information. . .

Apartment
Slum
Bungalow
Chawl
Ghetto
Hut
Mansion
Building
All Synonyms For The Word "Home"
Yet All so Different

I Live In A Building
That Tells You More Than
It Would have Had
I Said I Live In My Home. . .

Some Days My Home Is
Cramped And Some Days
It Is Spacious It Depends
On The Kind Of Day. . .

I Am Having My Room
My Room Though Is Perfect
Not Too Small And Not Too Large
There's A Cupboard On The Left
A Table On The Right
The Bed Is In The Center
Two People Can Sleep On It
But I Have It All To Myself
There's A Blanket And A Pillow. . .

Sometimes I Scream Into The Pillow
There Are Three Other Flats In My Floor
Multiple Below And Numerous
Above Being Able To Be Loud
Is Not An Option I Have. . .

The Pillow Is A Loyal Friend
It Is Always There To Support Me
It Looks Hard But It Is Really Soft
It's A Really Good Listener
On Nights When It Gets Especially Hard
When I Can't Stop Shouting
It Gently Holds My Head
And Puts Me To Sleep. . .

You Know I Wonder
What I Would Do Without It
I Wonder How Many Broken Glasses
And Disturbed Monks There Would Be
If It Weren't For The Pillow. . .

My Pillow Is Also A Riddler
There Are Mornings
When I See Marks On It
And Cannot Tell If I Was Drooling
Or If I had Cried Myself
To Sleep The Night Before. . .

My Pillow's Always Got My Back
Literally On Days
When Getting Out Of Bed
Feels Like Going To War
My Pillow Proposes A Ceasefire. . .

When Things Start Getting Less Worse
It Gently Nudges My Neck
And Asks Me If I'm Ready To Get Up Again
It Is. . . It Is Really Patient With Me. . .

You Know I Don't Say This Often
But I'm Really Grateful For My Pillow
I Know There Are Nights
When I Fall Asleep In The Hall
Or Don't Come Home At All
And Sleep On Other Pillows
But It Refuses To Make A Fuss
Or Throw A Tantrum. . .

It Knows That One Day
It Will Be Old And Wrinkly
That It Won't Be As Comforting As It Is
Now The Cotton Will Come Out Of
All The Wrong Places
Maybe It Knows That One Day
When I'm Not
Feeling Particularly Grateful
I Will Even Consider Replacing It
Maybe It Knows That. . .

I Wish One Night
When I'm Fast Asleep
It Holds My Head Gently Like
It Always Does And Snaps My Neck Apart. . .

I Wish One Night
When I'm Sleeping
It Climbs On Top Of My Face
And Smothers Me
Till I Can No Longer Breathe
At Least This Way I'll Go Before
And Be Spared Of The Pain Of Separation. . .

But This Is Me
Being Selfish Again. . .

You Know
When People Ask Me About Home
i Usually Blabber Something Basic Like
Like Home Is Where The Heart Is
Or Home Is Living In The Moment. . .

But I'll Never Forget
This Unsung Hero
Who Helped Me
When I Needed It The Most
And When The Time Comes
To Make The Decision To Replace My Pillow
I Know That I Will Sleep On It. . .
